Green River Works Knives feature classic high-carbon steel blades with individually ground and honed edges. Natural hardwood handle is secured to the blade with brass compression rivets. Made in USA.

Originally made by John Russell, an English immigrant, they played a significant role in the early American cutlery industry. His knives were the first choice for early mountain men and frontiersmen. This marked the beginning of a legacy that would leave a lasting impact on American frontier life. These knives were valued for their durability, sharpness, and reliability, making them essential tools for survival in the challenging conditions of the American West.

The phrase "up to Green River" entered the American lexicon as a testament to the exceptional quality of Russell's knives. It became an expression indicating that something was well-constructed or very well done, reflecting the reputation of the Green River knives for their superior craftsmanship.

This knife has a High-Carbon Steel Blade, it can rust and stain. Please make sure to clean your high-carbon steel blade by handwashing and drying. Coat the blade with mineral oil and store in a dry place to keep from rusting/staining. Fine steel wool can also be used when needed. Dexter Russell has been manufacturing knives since 1818, and with proper care your knife should last a lifetime.
