Nice mink hat

Pros:
-affordable (as of this review half the cost off the custom size version)
-sturdy & light without sacrificing warmth (all mink hats)
-ears are long enough to cover the entire chin
Cons:
-ribbons instead of leather for tying the ears up/cinching them under the chin
-one size fits all, and the ribbon for adjusting the size is hard to work with
-not able to tie the ears up or put them down with the hat on
This is a beautiful hat! Since it can’t be converted on the fly, it’s slightly less versatile than my rabbit ushanka from another company, but you can solve that problem by keeping it in one form until you get inside again. Once I realized that, it was a simple matter to thread the ribbons through a cheap, black, spring loaded cable stop like I had on an old backpack. Using the cable stop, I could tighten the ribbons under the chin easily (they kept slipping when I tried hand tying). The ribbons are long enough that I can use the same trick to tie them up well too. The black metal blends well into the black colored fur. With this little hack, the hat’s a real bargain. I wore it out in 11 F/-11 C temps and my head and cheeks were well protected and didn’t feel the cold at all. Most ushanka’s are small enough on top to fit under a parka hood, so even in the wind with the hood up, there was no issue with this hat. My head is 58 cm, so the 60 cm circumference made it so I could wear it without much adjustment, further improving the value.
